Our Troop is very active and accurate, timely communication is key to keeping everyone advised of our up coming events and activities. In addition to our weekly Troop meetings, we also conduct at least one Troop campout where younger Scout learn certain skills for rank advancement, while the older Scouts work on merit badge requirements, volunteer/ service hours, and spend time teaching younger Scouts.
Everyone should be receiving emails from Jeremy Garber with important information and documents. However, we know it is difficult to locate the document you need when you need it. So, we have developed a Troop calendar. All Troop events are listed on the calendar and all necessary documents are linked to the event itself. Thus, if you need a permission slip or a packing list for a specific event, the document is connected to the event itself. Be aware that permission slips and payments will be due by the Tuesday Troop meeting prior to the campout, unless due earlier.

The merit badge process can be confusing for new scouts and their parents. Troop 104 does not permit first-year scouts to sign up for merit badge classes at summer camp, the year they joint the troop. During a scout's first summer camp, the Troop's leadership work with all first-year scouts on their Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class rank requirements. Merit badges are not required for these ranks and are only required to reach the higher ranks of Star, Life, and Eagle.
In order to attain the rank of Scout, the first rank in boy scouts, each scout is required to learn and understand the merit badge process. This process appears in The Boy Scout Handbook in the Awards and Advancement Chapter. If you and your scout have not reviewed the process, please do so.
